FAQ
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHEN ARE YOU OPEN?
We aren't open to the public and do not have regular business hours for food assistance to individuals. We are a distribution center for food pantries and organizations that visit by appointment. If you or someone you know needs food assistance, call or visit your local food pantry or find a pantry near you from THIS LIST.
WHAT IS "DISTRIBUTION DAY?"
We open on Monday and Friday by appointment to our agency and organization partners to collect food and essentials that the individuals and families they serve will use. Our facility is not open to the public.
HOW DOES MY ORGANIZATION SIGN UP TO SHOP?
Area food pantries, recovery homes, and other food assistance programs and organizations can apply to become a partner with Milford Food Bank. Our partners can shop once per week and collect food and essentials to share with the individuals and families who visit their facilities. Interested representatives from an organization should first complete this ONLINE FORM, and we’ll be in touch
HOW CAN I DONATE TO MILFORD FOOD BANK?
We make supporting us simple, and there are many ways to do that. Visit our DONATE page to see all the ways you can use your time, talents, and treasures to further our mission to share Christ’s love and provide food to local pantries serving those facing hunger.
IS THERE ANYTHING LEFT?
The free food we place outside is available until it's gone to anyone -- regardless of their need or where they're from. The produce stand is stocked about 6 days a week in the Summer and Fall. If stock is low, please check back the next business day (closed on Sundays). We are a very small staff and typically do not monitor what's been set out. Follow us on Facebook and Instagram for updates.
WHERE DOES MILFORD FOOD BANK GET ITS FOOD?
Our food comes primarily in bulk from regional and local chain and grocery stores, restaurants, bakeries, organizations, and other food banks. See a list of our food donors HERE.
HOW DO I BECOME A VOLUNTEER?
We would love to have you! You can fill out a VOLUNTEER INTEREST FORM, and our volunteer coordinator will contact you soon.
WHAT IS THE RESOURCE STORE?
The Milford Food Bank Resource Store, located in Ligonier, Indiana, is open on the third Wednesday each month and stocked by Milford Food Bank with personal care and non-food, essential items like personal care products, household items, and more. It is available to anyone from anywhere, and all items are free. Click HERE for more information.
WHAT ARE THE SATERRDAY SALES?
On the second and fourth Saturday, we open our doors to anyone from anywhere, regardless of income, situation, or season of life. All are welcome to shop. Our volunteer Terry is typically here from 8 am- 2 pm with products available for a minimum donation. These are products that we have purchased at wholesale cost and are offering to the public at well-below retail cost. We accept CASH OR CHECKS but prefer cash. Checks require ID and phone number. When you arrive at the food bank, park in a parking spot. The line begins at overhead door no. 3 at the Distribution Center.
WHERE CAN I BRING MY MATERIALS FOR RECYCLING?
We have large receptacles located at our distribution center on Emeline St. on the southwest corner. You can donate cardboard, aluminum, and scrap metal to us that we sell to support our operating expenses. Please leave aluminum cans in a bag, not loose.
CAN I TOUR YOUR FACILITIES?
Yes! We welcome groups for a tour of both our buildings, so we can share about and show what we do here. Please complete an INTEREST FORM and select the Interested in "Scheduling a tour of the MFB facility" so we can get something scheduled.
