Volunteer Spotlight: Dave Bontrager

We run on VOLUNTEER POWER and wholeheartedly believe we have the best volunteers at Milford Food Bank. So, each month, we feature one of our loyal volunteer staff members. Today, we are featuring Dave Bontrager!

Dave is one of our truck drivers and has been with us for three and a half years. He and his wife Elsa live in Milford. He volunteers at MFB because he feels it's "a great organization with great leadership and lots of great volunteers," and he enjoys giving back to his community. Dave has been surprised most by how much need there is in our area, and also at how much food and other products come through the food bank each week. He enjoys driving a box truck to pick up and deliver food and products all over northern Indiana, as well as meeting people from other organizations that work with MFB. An experience that Dave will always remember happened a few years ago. He brought back a load of products from one of our partners, and as they were unloading it they saw that one of the skids had a wheelchair on it. A representative from one of our food pantries saw it and began to cry, saying that she knew of someone who was in need of a wheelchair. It was in that moment that they all knew that the wheelchair was an answer to that person's prayers. Stories like this happen all the time at the food bank, and we are blessed to witness God working in and through what we do here. We are so thankful for Dave's fun personality, dedication, and for serving his community by volunteering at Milford Food Bank.
