We wholeheartedly believe we have the best volunteers at Milford Food Bank, so each month we feature one of our loyal volunteer staff members to share about. Today, we are featuring our volunteer, Sharon Wood, who is from New Paris, Indiana. How long have you been a volunteer with Milford Food Bank?
I've been volunteering here for about five years.Â
Why do you volunteer at MFB?Â
When I retired, I wanted to stay busy and stay young longer. I'm only 78, after all. I volunteer here to give back some of all that God gives to me each and every day. I'm just so truly thankful. I really enjoy working with the other volunteers, because we all believe in helping others.
What’s the most surprising thing you’ve learned while volunteering here?
I am so surprised at how much food we can give away. It's just amazing!
What’s your favorite task to take on?Â
I truly enjoy weighing everyone's carts of food for their pantries, because I get lots of hugs and appreciation from all. When I look across the street at the new building, I'm just amazed at how people are willing to help hurting people, and I know the world is still alright.
Thank you, Sharon, for your commitment to Milford Food Bank and for giving back to our community.
