Volunteer Spotlight: Vickie Scarpellini

ree

We wholeheartedly believe we have the best volunteers at Milford Food Bank, so each month we feature one of our loyal volunteer staff members to share about. Today, we are featuring Vickie Scarpellini from Milford, Indiana. Theresa has been a volunteer at Milford Food Bank for 7 years.

What’s the most surprising thing you’ve learned while volunteering at Milford Food Bank?

At first I started volunteering to fill a void, now it is to fill a need, a desire to help others in any capacity I can.

What’s your favorite thing to do here?

No one day is the same. You learn on a daily basis. The need for MFB is real. Whether you are a pantry big or small, a church, an outreach, a food locker, or a mission. All work differently, but all work for the same goal.. to help decrease hunger in whatever capacity you can.

What’s a small moment here that made a big impact on you?  I like the opportunity to do whatever needs to be done...maybe not packing peach powder because of an allergy, you can always do other things.

Why do you volunteer your time?

The very first giveaway. It absolutely opened my eyes and mind as to the need to always give my time to help others.

What motivates you to keep coming back, even on the hard days?

To be here to see and witness how many more people can be served with our new building and hopefully bring in more volunteers who can see what MFB is all about.

Thank you, Vickie, for your commitment to Milford Food Bank and to serving the Lord and giving back to our community.
